John and Ann Watson were born in Scotland, but were found in Cripplegate in the 1841 census with children David, William and Catherine. This is the story of the Watsons from London in 1841 to Australia in 1853. William Watson, son of John and Ann Watson, was convicted of stealing a clock in 1849 and was sentenced to transportation to Australia. Other associated family names: John Joseph Coyne from Ireland, Henry Jesse Maddock from Devon, Arthur Melbin from Liverpool. These four men were all convicts, transported to Western Australia. They arrived at Fremantle between 1853-1857. In later years, they married and made new lives for their families in the Northam and Jennapullin areas in Western Australia.
