Our Coyne family were farmers in the area known as Clifden. The landscape in this area is quite rocky; it must have been difficult to farm in these conditions.
The town of Clifden today is the centre of the area known as Clifden. The Coyne family did not live in this township as it didn't exist in the early to mid 1800s. They lived in one of the outlying areas but the district was called Clifden.
